Senator Orrin Hatch calls Threads of Honor, "A masterful job. I was inspired . . ." The process that Bill Tolbert was required to go through in his attempt to obtain flight clearance for Troop 514's flag would have deterred a lesser man. But the responsibility he felt for those fourteen young men kept him going. He enlisted the help of all his resources to get the flag included in the official flight kit. Finally, he stood before the troop and announced that their request had been approved. Troop 514's flag would be on the next shuttle mission, due to launch in eight weeks.

Words can't adequately describe how this book made me feel. Growing up near Huntsville, AL where much of the space program began, I've always been fascinated with the space flight. My husband also served in the Air Force. So many of the things in this book were easy for me to relate to but that is not the only reason I enjoyed this book. This book brings out patriotic pride and reminds us that the flag is not just a piece of fabric. It symbolizes so much more. This book puts that into perspective in a way, I can only dream of explaining to my first grade students. It inspires me to strive harder to teach them the true meaning of the flag during our unit on National Symbols.Product details

I cried!
That tells it All.
This is STPID
The book was wonderful, But by requiring everyone yo go through this worthless exercise most likely has caused most readers to give up!!!
Great and very informational book
I reported on this in our Literary Club and had a military man be the voice of the flag. It was fantastic.
Good, good book.
Having been a reluctant Scoutmaster in the past, this book was inspiring. The story brought tears of pride to my eyes as I recalled many events of my own as I had the opportunity to lead these young men. Patriotism abounds. Love of country comes through. Any one with an ounce of pride in America and the Boy Scouts will love this short story.
An interesting story between the Boy Scouts, NASA, and the government. The book follows the story of a Scout Troop and their quest to reclaim an US Flag which traveled on a Space Shuttle mission. An inspiring story of persiverance for the "little guy" to reclaim a special prize. Easy reading and compelling story
Great book, very interesting and informative.
A simply written book about a heartened tale surrounding real American Boy Scouts and their passion to see their flag fly...in space. Any Scout, past or present, should read this! A truthful book faithfully written.
