When your best friend is gay and you are straight life can present some interesting challenges…especially if chance and circumstances conspire and you find yourself married…To each other! Legally Wed from romance author Cecil Wilde is a perfect mix of friendship, love, and humor; with a few twists and turns to keep you turning the pages of this contemporary GLBT romance.
Blake’s a thirty-something lawyer climbing the career ladder to his dream job of DA. He’s sacrificed any kind of life away from work to get to where he’s going, and he’s determined to get there.
Xander’s a contract lawyer stuck in a dead-end job and a string of unfulfilling relationships with men he can’t love. He’s been in love with his best friend almost since they first met in law school, but he’d never say anything, because he knows Blake can’t love him back.
During a desperately needed vacation for both of them, they wake up after a night on the town in Las Vegas--married. To each other. As if that wasn’t bad enough, they soon realize that the story coming out would tank Blake’s career and ruin Xander’s life, so they can’t afford to get a divorce.
Their only choice is to fake it. For Blake, that means pretending he’s not as straight as he’s always said he is, and for Xander, it means the torture of getting what he’s always wanted in the worst possible way. Add to that the trials of married life, and what starts out as an adventure quickly turns sour as life happens, confessions are made, and tragedy strikes.
With his tentatively happy marriage hanging in the balance, Blake must engage in some serious soul-searching to find out that what he’s always wanted had been right in front of him all along. But will it be too late to convince Xander of his intentions, after years of not being able to see him for what he was?

All right, so this one was a bit of a surprise. I wasn't expecting much, the whole thing -- right down to the title -- told me it was going to be lightweight, sentimental and predictable and -- mostly -- it was, but at least the guys were -- well -- guys. They didn't weep all over each other and though their "undying love" and their tentativeness was a bit cloying and sometimes annoying, given that, well, at least the writer seems to be someone who can write gay male characters and I'm hoping he gets better at it. I gave him the benefit of a complete read and he gave me a few moments of acceptable entertainment. It ain't deep and it ain't all believable. You wonder sometimes why it takes these characters in some of these books (and I mean the ones directed at the LGBT people of the world) to take so long to figure out the most obvious of sexual situations and romantic intentions. Why the characters in this book put up with each other sometimes really pushed my ability to suspend my disbelief. Nonetheless, there were moments where I could say, "okay, maybe there are people this naive." I did find myself liking the main characters despite everything else that was rather unsurprising. I know that being gay doesn't make you Oscar Wilde and some gay authors are going to write just "okay" books. I still think this Wilde could develop into something if he gets past writing M/M romance and writes character based fiction that just happens to have gay characters. I hope he does, 'cause there's a lot of really worthless, cloying, quivering crap that comes up when you search this genre.Product details

Legally Wed edition by Cecil Wilde Romance eBooks Reviews
Most of the story is explained in the blurb. The two BFFs get drunk and end up married – both have deep feelings for the other, only Blake seems to be really good at subverting those feelings and Xander is just plain hiding them.
Once married, life takes a turn for Xander. He loses his job and his dignity. He gives absolutely everything to Blake and the marriage and Blake is an oblivious (idiot) husband and doesn’t see what’s right in front of his nose.
Eventually, the two have to sit down and have a heart-to-heart about what’s going on in their lives – why they got married – why they stay married – and what’s the future going to hold.
**
I loved the premise of the book – a m/m take on the “drunken marriage” trope. There were parts that really worked for me Xander and Blake seem like fairly normal guys and approach the marriage in a very down-to-earth “guy” manner. (IE They’ve been friends forever, they don’t offer to share the only bed they own – Xander sleeps on the couch!)
What bothered me Blake is totally clueless about any “feelings” Xander may have and Xander lets him walk all over him. Over and over again. I never understood Blake’s positive contributions to the relationship. He wasn’t particularly hot, nice, funny, intuitive… you get the idea. Yet Xander threw away EVERYTHING for him. I didn’t get it.
The smexy times were also a bit weird and felt uncomfortable to me as the reader – I wasn’t really invested in them as a couple and by the time Blake decided he wanted in on the sexual aspect of their relationship he still hadn’t really re-deemed himself so it felt like more sacrifice on Xander’s part than a beautiful sharing of bodies.
So…while the writing was fine and the premise interesting, I’m not sure I really recommend this highly. It was… interesting.
This story isn't bad but isn't good either. It feels like a first attempt use of the friends to lovers trope device but is missing the romantic tension and chemistry that makes the journey from friend to lover so much fun to read. Just because you tell me they're now attracted go each other doesn't mean I believe it. I need to feel the attraction too. It has all the other ingredients for a friend to to lover romance but it's missing the spice.
Loved Xander and Blake. The storyline was sweet and the fact that they were long time friends and did require all that getting to know you stage was wonderful. The story did give you enough background to let you knoe just what these guys have been through together to make the MC'S real and the love they felt for one another believable. Good read!
This was an okay read for what it was. My main issue was how the relationship between Blake and Xander developed after they were married. Blake behaved like a clueless, thoughtless idiot and Xander needed to give him a good swift kick in the butt a lot sooner in the story which would have allowed for more development of the romantic relationship between the characters.
"Legally Wed" takes the old romance theme of accidental marriage and puts a gay spin on it. The main characters are best friends who, for once in a story, actually seem like real best friends...and that's why this story works. Unlike a typical romcom play with recycled gaffe or crazy storylines, after the initial getting drunk and married, the characters actually settle into a grown up relationship that is based on mutual respect and caring. It's a nice change from the totally outlandish. If you are looking for a fun, light read, this is not it. If you're looking for a warm story sans emotional extremes, this is very HEA. Be aware that it is a very short, fast read...but it hits its mark, so that's not necessarily a bad thing.
The book had 1882 locations on my kindle. The book was about 2 best friends, Xander and Blake. Xander was an easy going, gay lawyer, who was hopelessly in love, with his best friend. Blake was a straight and lonely lawyer. The book begins with Xander and Blake, getting really drunk and getting married in Vegas. The book contained some hand holding, a few kisses, one oral sex scene and one anal sex scene. I loved the fact, that the men, did not instantly fall in love and realize, they were meant to be. The sexual relationship, built up over time. I loved the characters. Xander was so supportive, understanding and protective of Blake. Blake was unsure and a little insecure. This was a sweet and very tame romance.
